This beautiful reno started from a barebones basement. The first step in this reno was to remove the existing wall on the stairs, add additional support to the stairs and a new railing to open up the stairwell and crest more lines of sight brightening the space and making it feel less closed off.
For the children in the family the new play area was finished with carpet for warmth, comfort and safety. The recreational room was finished with luxury vinyl tile that was glued down. The “dri-core” underlay helps keep the floor warm and quiet.
Three separate art niches were built into the walls with their own 2” LED lights to light up the art that was to be installed.
A separate sump pump room was added with double doors and sound insulated walls.
The furnace room area also received sound insulation walls for noise reduction. LED lights are all on dimmers for more light control. A closet with mirror doors was installed to keep the space looking big as well as create space for seasonal clothes and shoes. All the doors, baseboard and casing installed match the upstairs floors to keep the continuity and help the new space feel less like a basement living area.
This is a perfect example of what your basement can be. This style of renovation provides warmth for the family removing the feel of being in a basement extending the usable area of the home.
